18th Century New England Country American Single Drawer Blanket Mule Chest

A scarce antique early American country single drawer lift-top faux grain painted blanket chest - mule chest with beautifully aged warm rich patina, circa 1780
Hand-crafted in the New England region of the Northeastern United States in the second half of the 18th century, comprised of solid wood, most likely pine or poplar, since expensive woods were hard to find throughout the Colonies, especially the rural areas, it features the original rich warm Colonial hand painted faux cherry graining finish and beautifully aged reddish brown patina. Crafted in period English Chippendale taste, having a hinged lid door at the top that flips open to reveal the large sized storage trunk, fitted with a small compartment for storing smaller items. Over a single full-length drawer with quality hand-cut dovetail joinery and affixed with an unusual trio of brass batwing pulls. Raised on ogee bracket feet with carved and molded edge trim.

A rare and most impressive early American Queen Anne style blanket chest, dating to the 18th century, found in New England, having a molded pine case fitted with rectangular iron pin-hinge top, opening to a deep storage compartment interior with faux drawer facing, over two lower drawers with hand cut dovetail joinery, rising on shaped bracket feet, early grain-paint over original red paint, adorned in later brass fittings, all enhanced by beautifully aged distressed original patina. circa 1750, Northeastern United States

A scarce nearly 300 year old antique Parisian travel trunk / storage chest by La Forest.
Exquisitely hand-crafted in Paris, France in the first half of the 18th century, during the remarkable King Louis XV period (1715-1774), fine quality craftsmanship, construction and luxurious materials, featuring a solid wood frame with patinated metal mounts wrapped in animal hide binding to top and front, dual rolled iron carry handles at sides, slatted back and sturdy plank boarded verso, having a hinged dome top, open to original plaid flannel fabric lined interior, retaining maker's label under lid, signed La Forest. circa 1725

Hand-crafted in Spain in the first half of the 18th century, with later architectural elements, having a rectangular single board plank top with breadboard batten ends and desirable overhang, above deep geometric pattern carvings to three sides of the apron and chip carved running ornamentation to the back, elevated on tall hand turned legs. A wonderful way to add authentic antique character, rustic warmth, and European old world charm!
