About the Item

An early leather trunk decorated with complex rillette embossing and retaining elements of its original polychromed decoration. Hand-forged hinges, corner straps and a fabulous central lockplate under scalloped front edge, Standing on later bun feet. Desirable flat top, making it useful as a coffee table. Early 18th century. Possibly Peruvian.
