17th Century Italian Baroque Lacquered Spruce Religious Furniture 1600

About the Item

This monumental piece of furniture, of Veneto-Alto Veneto provenance, made entirely of lacquered fir wood. Full seventeenth century (ca. 1650) is presented as an imposing double-bodied sideboard, entirely lacquered in faux marble with various shades of blue, azure and pinkish colors. In the upper part we have two columns of six drawers arranged vertically, plus a central drawer. In the lower body we find three central drawers and two side doors. The top culminates in an upper cornice with moldings , while at the oppositeinferior end we have wide and massive feet suitable for supporting the imposing weight of the cabinet. The surface, entirely wavy and curved, is decorated with gold-leaf fillets and panels. At the two lateral endsof the upper body, it has two polychrome wooden carvings of great quality depicting candle-bearing putti. Restoration and consolidation in some areas of the basement. Some additions in the lacquering. Authentic back of the cabinet with the replacement of a solatavola.In relation to the period and size the cabinet is in a very good state of preservation.
