19th century French Louis Philippe style bibliothèque or bookcase handcrafted of solid walnut by talented artisans near Honfleur, a commune in the Calvados department in northwestern France, circa 1870s. Having a molded cornice with canted corners above three, three-quarter glass paneled doors with original antique hand blown glass. Five interior shelves. Resting on a plinth base ending in wood sabots, named after the popular wooden shoes from the Brittany region. A beautiful and rich patina accents the timeless design and simple, elegant lines of the Louis Philippe period, allowing this handsome cabinet to mix flawlessly with other periods and styles.
