19th Century George III Style Mahogany Bureau Secretary Bookcase

About the Item

This is a sophisticated and stately Danish secretary bookcase. The partially pierced cornice and a secondary tiered; a shaped cornice over two closed panel doors flanked by mahogany columns with gilt bronze Corinthian capitals. The upper cupboard of the secretary is situation on a bottom section with a drop front, opening to reveal a miniature mirrored door flanked by miniature mahogany columns with gilt bronze capitals, which are in turn flanked by a bank of miniature drawers, fronted by a large writing surface. The remainder of the bottom section contains a frieze drawer over three long graduated drawers, raised on bracket feet. 19th century.
