George I Burr Walnut and Walnut Bureau Bookcase


A diminutive bureau bookcase cabinet with stunning veneers /solid walnut boards. Truly magnificent colors and patina, mottled fading throughout. Mellow, warm appeal. Beveled glass door. Rare small size, basically a book cabinet on a walnut chest Christies label in verso. Two keys. The glass is most likely a late 19th or early 20th century replacement. Possibly originally with wire mesh. Original Christie's description: Lot description: A George I walnut and burr walnut bureau cabinet, Second quarter of the 18th century  Measure: 65½in. (166.5cm.) high, 31¼in. (79.5cm.) wide, 15in. (38cm.) deep.
