George III Period Mahogany Bureau Bookcase, c. 1790
About the Item
Constructed of fine patinated mahogany, and with what appear to be the original swan-neck handles still intact. The bureau is filled with storage space, the desk containing 11 sliding drawers and 10 cubbyholes, mounted over a set of four graduated sliding drawers. The upper bookcase is fronted by two hinged doors, both with simple crosshatching glazing bars concealing four shelves of display space. The piece is mounted on bracket feet with scrolled designs.
