We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely pair of original William Baker Co Oxford solid oak Legal stacking modular bookcases. A very good looking and well-made pair, there were a number of companies making this type of bookcase in the late Edwardian era up to present day, the finest are by far and away made by William Baker & Co. The quality of the craftsmanship is simply out of this world, each door can be opened and rested at any point and it doesn’t move, they are perfectly balanced, the doors have ball bearing clamps which neatly depress to hold the door in place. As mentioned these are modular stacking bookcases so you remove the middle section from one and add it to the other or you can buy other sections that are the same and make much the bookcases much larger Condition wise for the era is perfect, the glass is all original as are the handles, we have cleaned waxed and polished the timber and cleaned the glass Dimensions: Height 117.5cm Width 88cm Depth 31.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
