About the Item

Decorate a breakfast room or dining room with this elegant antique "Buffet a Horloge". Hand carved in the Bressan region near Lyon, France circa 1860 with ash burl and walnut, the important display cabinet is built in two sections and is decorated with floral and leaf motifs throughout. The top part with volutes and carved shell motifs is dressed with side finials; it features a bonnet top over the clock casing with glass, a violin shape center door decorated with hand carved flower basket, and three rows of shelving flanked with two carved side doors opening to inside shelving. The bottom section stands on eight scroll feet over a carved scalloped apron; it features two large doors with carved recessed panels with inside shelving, and four drawers across the middle embellished with heart shape decor and dressed with forged iron handles. The clock movement with rooster brass face (a symbol of France), has been checked and cleaned, and is in wonderful working order keeping good time and chiming on the hour and half hour. The tall "Vaisselier Horloge Bressan" (clock vaisselier from the Bressan region), is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with wonderful carved motifs, abundance of storage, and adorns a rich walnut patina. Pendulum, two weights, winding key, and 2 keys included. White fabric in the back. Measures: 76.75" W x 22.75" D x 105.5" H.
