About the Item
A handsome and most decorative French 19th century Louis XVI st. Mahogany, Ormolu, Japanese Lacquer and marble buffet. This elegant cabinet is raised on four circular tapered, and fluted legs with wrap around Ormolu sabots and beaded top bands. Above the straight apron are three wonderfully detailed Japanese Laquered doors set within mottled Brass frames and displaying their original keyhole escutcheons. Each door depicts a two toned Lacquered scene of intricately detailed rivers and mountains in the countryside, while opening on their original hinges and showcasing top to bottom locks to prevent warping. The doors open to reveal a single adjustable shelf in each section. Above the doors are three drawers which mirroring the width of the doors below, while displaying similar scenes, keyholes, and being set within mottled Brass frames. The buffet is finished with a stunning solid Fior de Pesco marble top which follows the shape of the cabinet below.
