French Buffet-Credence Cabinet Deux Corps Renaissance 16th Century France
About the Item
Important Renaissance sideboard-credence.
This piece of furniture, originally a very large chest from the 16th century chest from the 16th century has three panels carved with mascarons and fluted uprights with two belt bands carved with the face of a bearded man in profile and putti holding bunches of grapes.
In the 19th century the panels were transformed into a door and an upper part was added taking up the motifs of the chest with three doors, two columns and a sculpted cornice.
The sculptures are of a remarkable quality of execution.
