Ebonized German Oak Sideboard or Buffet from around 1800

About the Item

Sideboard or Buffet from the Aachen region, around 1800, ebonised and restored ready for everyday use. Flat oak body standing on pressed ball feet at the front and block feet at the back with sloping pilaster strips, moulded fluted skirting board and slightly protruding top panel. Two doors made in frame construction are hung on external brass fittings and separated by a wide central pilaster strip. Both the door panels and the pilaster strips are carved in rocaille and floral relief, typical of the time and place. The interior is fitted with a full-length shelf. Locks and key plates are not original. Dimensions Height: 101.5 cm / 39.96 inch. Width: 171 cm / 67.32 inch. Depth: 44 cm / 17.32 inch. Interior: 40.5 cm (15.94 inch)/ 39 cm (13.77 inch) high, 157 cm (61.81 inch) wide, 36 cm (14.17 inch) deep Restored ready to use. The surface has been stripped of its old coating, stained black, decoratively sanded and sealed with wax.
