French 19th century Louis XVI st Fleur de Pêcher marble Mirror buffet

About the Item

A very impressive and most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. Mahogany, Ormolu, Fleur de Pêcher marble and Mirror buffet, stamped G. Eisenhardt 59 Faubourg st. Antoine Paris. This astonishing three door five drawer buffet with its original back-splash is supported on six Ormolu pawed feet. The two curved ends have a central tier and are fitted with Fleur de Pêcher marble while having a pierced Ormolu gallery with two original mirror plates on both levels. Above the straight frieze and above each of the four front feet are slender columns decorated by acanthus leaf designed Ormolu plinths, scrolling foliate top capitals wrapped in berried laurel vines with floral finals below, and edged with beaded bands leading up both sides. These highly detailed columns separate the three doors. The two rectangular doors flank the larger scale central door and all are tastefully designed with flamed Mahogany panels edged with beaded Ormolu bands with cut corners replaced with rosette ornaments. Above the three doors are the intricately detailed five drawers all separated by beautiful rosette badges located above each column. The three central drawers and two curved outside drawers are all decorated similarly with their pierced Rinceau Ormolu designs. The original mottled edge Fleur de Pêcher marble top is edged around its base by an egg and dart designed Ormolu band. The curved and stepped original Fleur de Pêcher marble back-splash is decorated with a fluted Ormolu band lightly wrapped in crossing flowing ribbons. The Fleur de Pêcher marble back-splash has a circular central reserve of an original mirror plate framed within a fluted Ormolu frame wrapped in crossing ribbons, covered in berried laurel vines with a bowed ribbon top crown, and a hanging basket of beautiful flowers in the center.
