About the Item
An exceptional and most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. Mahogany and Ormolu buffet. The buffet is raised on lovely circular tapered fluted legs with fine mottled Ormolu sabots and below rosettes flanking the Mahogany frieze. Above the straight frieze are two central doors showcasing the beautiful Mahogany grained raised panels framed within a richly chased Coeur-de-Rai Ormolu band with cut corners. The central panel has an outer Mahogany band and each door has an Ormolu foliate decorated key hole escutcheon. The two doors are flanked by fluted columns and two two open shelves with a beautiful pierced Ormolu gallery. Above are two central drawers with Ormolu key hole escutcheons with tied bows and circular pulls. The central recessed panels are decorated by a beaded Ormolu trim. The outer curved doors at each end are decorated in the same. Flanking each drawer are richly chased rectangular Ormolu rosettes. Above is the 'D' shaped Mahogany leveled panels which are framed within a beautiful pierced Ormolu gallery.
