Italian 19th C. Console Cabinet w/a Hand-Painted Fishing Village Seascape Motif

About the Item

An Italian two-door cabinet with artistic hand-painted finish, from the 19th century. This antique cabinet from Italy feature a rectangular-shaped top with gently scalloped front edge, atop a case fitted with a pair of artfully painted doors at front, flanked within canted side posts, and gently raised on petite carved feet. This chest, whose body is primarily a creamy/off white color, has an artisan-painted door fronts (which is unlikely original, but very old), depicting two seascapes of a fishing village and surrounding landscape with ruins. There is a lovely old patina, which only adds more charm and character of the cabinet. This 19th century Italian artisan-painted cabinet would make a great decorative storage option for a kitchen, living room or study.

A French two-door buffet cabinet with nicely carved skirt from the early 19th century (or possibly earlier). This antique painted and carved wood cabinet from France has a rectangular-shaped top with rounded front corner edges, which rests above a case of fitted with a pair of doors that arch together at center, and raised upon cabriole feet. Each door is adorn with shapely raised-panels within their centers, and flanked within rounded side posts carved with an elongated oval panel and thick acanthus leaf towards the skirt. The beautiful paneling continues at underside of top front, and either cabinet side. The skirt is exquisite, and pierce carved with leafy c-scrolls along the front with scalloped sided.
