Original Ruhlmann Signed Argentier Geoffroy Commode - Buffett/Credenza

About the Item

Original Ruhlmann Argentier Geoffroy Commode The Argentier (silver cabinet) Geoffroy was named for the first client who ordered this model. This cabinet was the second example made for Jean Dumont, who lived at 4 rue de Luynes in Paris. The cabinet was purchased for the storage of silverware. Dimensions: 67 inches wide, 21 inches deep, 42 inches high. 170 cm wide, 53 cm deep, 107 cm high Ruhlmann referred to this design as Model No. 2135. Designed by Ruhlmann draftsman Maxime Old, the cabinet was originally built in Ruhlmann’s Workshop A in November of 1930. This workshop was owned and overseen by Ruhlmann. The E.J. Ruhlmann office was located at 27 Rue de Lisbonne in Paris. Photocopy of Ruhlmann Certificate of Fabrication. Stamped on rear of cabinet with “RUHLMANN” signature. Veneered in beautifully matched, fine grained East Indian rosewood. The center serial moldings in solid East Indian rosewood. The cabinet is in excellent condition with all veneer and metal surfaces original. All surfaces clean with almost no repairs to the veneer. The marble top and wood surfaces are all in excellent condition. The metal finishes have patina representative of the period. The interior is clean with full depth shelving. Three matching keys included. Pollaro has meticulously restored the piece. The cabinet was authenticated by Cabinet D’Expertises Camard, Paris, November 7, 1992.
