About the Item

Cabinet console style "Rationalism" , by Piero Bottoni for Meroni & Fossati, in briar of walnut with murano glass handle. Cabinet dimensions: Height 77 cm, Width 72 cm, Depth 45 cm. Drawer dimensions: Depth 42 cm, Width 66 cm, Height 14.5 cm About Piero Bottoni Architect, urban planner, designer, set-up and restoration expert, Piero Bottoni is one of the great protagonists of Rationalism. As a designer on an urban and territorial scale, he remains famous as one of the authors of two plans that have marked the history of Italian urban planning: the Val d 'Aosta Plan, promoted by Adriano Olivetti in '36 and the A.R. (United Architects) of '44 -45. All of his work is an integral part of the origin of modern architecture and design. The furniture designed by Bottoni between the twenties and thirties demonstrates this, as precious cameos: chairs and tables with a spirit very close to the Bauhaus (typical use of curved steel tube). First of all, the Comacina desk table designed in 1930, put into production by Zanotta in 1989 according to a tradition dear to the company of re-editing historical pieces of designer design.
