About the Item

This beautiful sideboard designed and executed by J&M Leleu, Paris (Jules and Marcel Leleu atelier), all in precious walnut briar , with interior cladding in mahogany wood, is a piece of furniture that alone embellishes a modern environment. The upper part consists of a glazed compartment with a flap opening which can be used, for example, as a bar. A large central compartment with two doors and two lateral niches which can house two sculptures or precious and artistic objects. Measurements of the cabinet (encumbrance): W 137 cm - D 35cm - H 95cm Glazed compartment internal measures: W 74 cm- D 26cm - H 26 cm Central with doors internal measures: W 76 cm - D 30 cm - H 37cm Side niches internal measures: W 27 cm - D 18 cm - H 40 cm. The opening handles, very curious and particular, are in silver metal. About jules leleu Born into a family of artisans and artists in Boulogne-sur-Mer in Northern France, Jules Leleu was one of the fathers of French Art Deco design. He exhibited at the prestigious ‘Exposition des Arts Decoratifs’ in 1925, the event that gave Art Deco its name and designed the chairs for the Grand Salon and the Music Room. His commissions included the ocean liners Ile de France and the famed and ill-fated Normandie. Others include a dining room for the Elysée Palace, and the Grand Salon des Ambassadeurs at La Societé des Nations in Geneva, called the Salon Leleu.
