About the Item
Genuine antique secretary cabinet from northern Sweden. The cabinet is a genuine country furniture made in a transitional style from between the rococo and gustavian period. It’s dated 1834 on the door along with a set of initials. Made by hand in solid pine, it has the original first paint which has traces after use and an authentic patina.
The lower section is unusual with trick drawers – it looks like it will be drawers but actually it is doors to shelves. The lower cabinet also has a very old fashioned, original lock. The upper cabinet has a later lock, the keys are present and the locks are functional. Two boards at the back of the lower cabinet were replaced during the 1900s, but nothing that limits or affects the function. Healthy and stable frame.
The lower cabinet measures 95 cm wide, the frame is 57 cm and 34 cm deep respectively. It is 90 cm deep with the desk top open. Height to the desk top is 67 cm and the total height of the lower cabinet is 96 cm.
The upper cabinet is 101 cm wide including the pediment while the frame itself measures 91 cm wide. Depth is 33 cm and height 111.5 cm, making the total height of the cabinet 207.5 cm.
