Antique Late 18th Century German Solid Black Oak Wall Hanging Cabinet

About the Item

This is a beautiful wall-hanging cabinet that was made in Germany in the late 18th century. It was completely made in solid European oak and stained almost black. The cabinet has its original forged steel hinges and keyplate. Its lock and key were renewed a few decades ago. The cabinet was made using traditional techniques such as wooden pens and dovetail joints. The piece was stained very dark brown and has a deep gloss. The wood shows the many marks of use that contribute to the pure and antique feel of the piece. The cabinet can be suspended by the original forged steel brackets on the back. The piece was gently cleaned and a new protective wax coat was applied. The cabinet is now clean, solid, and ready for use.
