Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs Large 'Välipala' Wall Unit

About the Item

Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs for Huonekalu Mikko Nupponen, 'Välipala' bookcase, teak, lacquered wood, Finland, 1950s Designed by the Finnish designer Carl Gustaf Hiort, this wall unit is an architectural masterpiece constructed from various wooden elements, resulting in a clear, architectural piece that is flexible in use. A set of three black tripod legs hold a substantial teak shelf, its warm tones contrasting elegantly with the surrounding elements. Above, a white shelving system takes center stage that is completely adjustable and can therefore be arranged in such a manner that the user will suit best. The open construction allows the user to display objects such as books and glassware to one’s taste in this light shelf design. Kindly note that the item is in a pre-owned condition with signs of age and use. This includes fading of the lacquer and general marks. Restoration can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized restoration is possible as well.
