French 19th Century First Empire Period Flamed Mahogany Cabinet

About the Item

An extremely elegant French 19th century first Empire period flamed mahogany two-door cabinet with its original marble top. The cabinet is raised by discreet square supports below the straight frieze. At the center are two doors which display the warm captivating flamed mahogany, also repeated at each side. The doors open to reveal two original adjustable shelves and all original hardware including a high quality inset top to bottom lock. The front is decorated with highly detailed floral ormolu keyhole escutcheons and centered by a richly chased ormolu mount of a maiden's face framed within a fine berried laurel wreath. Above two ormolu mounts at each corner rests the original rectangular fossilized marble top.
