About the Item
Striking cabinet attributed to Swedish designer Otto Schulz. Made with the by Otto Schulz patented "Bopoint" technique where the surface in decorated with brass nails as in the case of Schulz often on top of deep colored faux leather. the cabinet has a richly patinated and naturally darkened birch veneer and lighter birch on the inside. Standing on four tapered legs. the shelves and drawers can be adjusted or taken out according to preference. Very good vintage condition with age related patina and wear.
Otto Schulz was a German born who had a huge impact on Swedish design during the first half of the 20th century. He started his own firm BOET in Gothenburg in 1920 as well as the influential interior magazine with the same name. Schulz developed and patented several techniques which he came back to in his designs, namely "Bopint", "Botarsia" and "Bosaik". All of which where synonymous with his designs.
Although we have not been able to verify the cabinets origin it bears the resemblance of many of Schulz works and is done with the botarsia technique patented by Sculz.
