Italian Futurist Cabitet in Red Wood and Applications

About the Item

Eccentric Italian futurist showcase cabinet from the 20's. The cabinet has applications inserted later, such as skull-shaped designs and designs on the sides of the cabinet in the shape of a sword. The cabinet is made with well-defined and geometric shapes, it denotes a certain geometric rigor and balance but also strong vibrations from the color painted red and black. This type of realization is composed of angular and fast lines, but also of linear, intense and fluid brushstrokes called "force lines". Since the line acts psychologically on the observer The colors included in this small piece of furniture is marked by "simultaneous contrasts", determining the rendering of "universal dynamism". The cabinet has two side doors with shelves inside for the insertion of objects. In the center is a small double-height shelf. Feet made in various sizes of pyramidal shape.

  • Chinese Antique Colonial Showcase in Fine Wood
    Located in Milano, IT
Gorgeous antique showcase of fine French manufacture, created for English colonists, belonging to the 1800s. This stunning display case is made entirely of a very fine dark wood, fabulously crafted and embellished. There are 4 feet to support the structure, S-shaped in fine wood, black in color, very durable. The feet are decorated with simply fantastic wooden spheres. Above we see a rectangular frame decorated like a frieze, with various squiggles and wooden spheres that go to create bunches of grapes, which give a really beautiful and scenic effect. Going up we see two window opening doors, very beautiful, with spherical wooden handles. The decorations are located in the center of the rectangle of the sash: the subject is a flowering tree branch with a sweet little bird perched on it, supreme nature prevails. Going up further rises the showcase proper, again framed by the wood used for the base. There is a central handle at the left side, which helps to open the one window sash...

The finishing was in fact in shellac which, passed in several very thin layers, gave brightness and uniformity to the decoration. This type of finishing was placed both on the outside of the Venetian furniture of the eighteenth century, and on the inside of the drawers and doors . The wooden structure of this piece of furniture is hidden by a flowering of pleasant designs. The craquelé finishing tipical of ancient painting...
