Napoleon III Ebonised Pier Cabinet, Circa 1850-1870, French

About the Item

Napoleon III Ebonised Pier Cabinet, Circa 1850-1870, French A stunning Napoleon III ebonised pier cabinet from the mid-19th century, dating to circa 1850-1870. This elegant French cabinet is a fine example of the Napoleon III style, featuring a sleek ebonised wood finish, intricate brass inlays, and gilt metal mounts. The central electrotyped hunting trophy panel adds a refined touch of nature-inspired decor to the door. Key Features: Material & Finish: Ebonised wood with brass inlays, displaying characteristic wear to the lacquer that enhances its historical appeal. Electrotyped Panel: The door is adorned with a central electrotyped panel of hunting trophies, a distinctive feature of Napoleon III furniture. Brass Inlays & Gilt Mounts: Decorative brass inlays frame the cabinet’s structure, complemented by gilt metal mounts at the corners and top. Interior Shelving: Fitted with three shelves (two later replacements), offering both storage and style. Lock & Key: The cabinet comes with a key to secure the lock, accompanied by a decorative keyring. Dimensions: Width: 77 cm Depth: 45 cm Height: 117 cm Condition: In fair condition commensurate with age. The structure is sound, but the ebonised lacquer shows significant wear, with scuffs and scratches to the surface. The electrotyped panel remains in good condition. Two of the shelves are later replacements. This piece retains its historical charm, with age-related marks that do not detract from its overall appeal. Origin: France This Napoleon III ebonised pier cabinet is an elegant and functional antique that offers both storage and historical character, making it an exceptional addition to any collection of French period furniture or a distinctive focal point for sophisticated interiors.
