About the Item

A large and impressive 17th century European cabinet. Made in two parts, both with elaborate carved decoration and burled panels and details. The upper cabinet with heavy overhanging top over dentil and burled inlaid friezes. The back with carved architectural panels framed by low relief carved scrolls and surmounted by winged angel figures. The middle and sides with pilaster supports and bearded masks on top. The projecting front with tapering decorated column supports and three frieze drawers with fine gray metal pulls of leaves and birds. The lower cabinet with double doors and complementary decoration and construction in the panels, scrolls, column supports and angel figures. These columns end in carved leafy terminals. Two shelves on the inside. Raised on thin flat bun feet. The sides with heavy iron carry handles. Lacking a key. Dimensions: Height 92", width 58 1/2", depth 22" Condition: Please see detail photos. The upper cabinet with an old repair on the left side pedestal, right side stable age cracks, losses to the left and right support bases at the backs, stable age crack across the lower cabinet top however the piece presenting exceptionally well.
