Spanish Baroque Style Walnut Vargueño Cabinet on Stand

About the Item

Distinctive walnut varqueño cabinet or chest on stand made in the Spanish baroque taste by Flint and Horner Co. New York, New York. When R.J. Horner retired his company merged with George C. Flint in 1915. The cabinet features a fall front door embellished with elaborately pierced patinated brass lock plates, pulls, and hinges. The cabinet opens to an intricately carved storage area with 6 carved drawers and 4 doors with brass pulls. The writing surface measures 29 inches high and comes with 2 locking keys. The stand features square and round column legs conjoined by a carved stretcher with carved arches. The column legs end with shoe style feet. The radiant wood has a lovely aged patina to mimic an 18th century piece. Makers label on rear side. Beautiful details and profile.
