Spanish Baroque Iron Mounted Oak Vargueno on Stand
About the Item
A fine example of a Spanish Baroque iron mounted oak vargueno or collector cabinet with eight drawers, beautifully detailed iron support straps and carvings on the top, forged iron handles, interesting wooden knob decoration on each drawer front, one drawer with a carved monogram, all supported by a custom turned leg base or stand (added at a later date). This vargueno dates to the 17th/18th century, with some hardware losses, drawer knob losses, shrinkage cracks, great overall patina, other imperfections adaptations and wear commensurate with age and use. - Condition:Repaired: repairs and replacements and losses. Slight wobble with the weight of the top on the base, but a fabulous piece and would make a great side table. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Minor fading. Very good overall condition, with some hardware losses, drawer knob losses, shrinkage cracks, great overall patina, other imperfections and wear commensurate with age and use. The item originally had a fall front and the base was replaced.
