About the Item

This is the Swedish Modern 1940s cabinet from the furniture factory AB Walfrid Svensson & Co in Karlstad. It comes with stained oak burl veneered double doors, decorated with a beautiful geometric grid pattern. The rest of the cabinet, both in- and outside, is veneered with stained oak. Behind the doors are hidden, on the left side two removable shelves and on the right a removable shelf and three oak burl veneered drawers. The lock, placed the right door works and a key is included. The cabinet comes with four high barley twisted oak legs, joined together with an H-stretcher. This particular cabinet is manufactured September 16th, 1947 and punched “16 9 47” to the back. It’s also stamped "SMI 10" which means "Svensk Möbelindustri, member No. 10" in red to the back. The designer is unknown. The furniture factory AB Walfrid Svensson & Co in Karlstad was known for its excellent craftsmanship and level of quality.

This is the 1920s Swedish Grace cabinet designed by Axel Einar Hjorth for AB Svenska Möbelfabrikerna in Bodafors, Sweden. It comes builded in two sections. Made of birch and veneered with dark brown stained birch. The inside and the shelves are veneered with natural birch. Behind the doors hides two removable shelves in each section. The front is richly ornamented and the two front legs resemble paws. In an age of 100 years it still has a beautiful strong, vibrant colors without any fading. Marked "AB Svenska Möbelfabrikerna Bodafors" with a metal plate inside the upper right door. The locks work and one key is included. ____________________ Axel Einar Hjorth worked in his younger years at Svenska Möbelfabrikerna in Bodafors, before he in 1927 got employed as chief designer at Nordiska Kompaniet.
