About the Item

An Excellent 17th Century English Oak, Walnut and Ebonised Chest of Drawers in Two Sections. A lovely chest of drawers made of both oak and walnut with additional ebonised detailing. A crossbanded and planked top, and the frieze with dentilling and corbels, incorporating two small drawers. Beneath this is a panelled section with a single deep drawer, enhanced by the ebonising and by the use of gothic motifs. The entire top section lifts off of the rest of the carcass for ease of transport. The lower section of the piece consists of two long drawers, also panelled throughout. It stands on later, flattened bun front feet and simple square back feet. The brassware used throughout is of very high quality and is unusually decorative. Beautifully aged and wonderful colour.
