18th Century Serpentine-Front Danish Pine Commode

About the Item

18th century serpentine-front Danish pine commode with four drawers. Mid-18th century serpentine-front commode in two parts, supported by carved paw-feet in front and simple block feet in the rear. Mortise and tenon construction. Sturdy and stable. Dovetailed drawers. Simple metal ring-pulls and escutcheons. Scraped back to earlier layers of paint. Traces of original gesso and painted finish, and faint remnants of early and later paint. Pulls and hardware not original. Note: Original/early finish on antique and vintage metal will include some, or all, of the following: patina, scaling, light rust, discoloration, and corrosion. When shipped, antique wood may shrink and/or split along its grain, and veneer may loosen or peel, due to changes in humidity and climate. Likewise, painted finishes and gilt may flake and/or crack for the same reasons.
