19th Century Biedermeier Walnut Bureau-Commode. Vienna, c. 1820-25.

About the Item

Hello, This elegant early Biedermeier walnut bureau-commode is the best example of top-quality Viennese piece from circa 1820-25. Viennese Biedermeier is distinguished by their sophisticated proportions, rare and refined design and excellent craftsmanship and continue to have a great influence on modern design. This elegant Biedermeier piece has beautiful, highly figured walnut veneer with gorgeous light deep amber color and 200 hundred years old patina. Two drawer Biedermeier bureau-commodes are extremely rare and difficult to find. The fitted interior with six drawers is veneered mostly in burl walnut and maple with ebonized accents. The writing surface is ebonized as well. The burl walnut is considered as the most attractive varieties of walnut. Burr Walnut veneer was taken from the specific part of the tree where 'growths' sprouting smaller branches and or roots would occur. Only the best quality Biedermeier pieces have such precious veneer. Long fine legs give the piece lightness and elegancy. The proportions of this piece of furniture are exquisite and every detail is meticulously refined. The fine grain of the walnut veneer on the front and sides of the piece is superbly matched to the overall shape. The drawer with the writing surface pulls out easily. The commode will be a great complement to any elegant interior. It does not matter whether it is a classic or modern interior because Biedermeier is simply timeless. We offer our clients to send this elegant Biedermeier commode by air for discounted price of $ 1500. This is the safest form of transport for fine antiques. It also includes full insurance. The lock and brass hardware are original. We are providing a Certificate of Authenticity. Dimensions: H: 38 1/2 inches, W: 49 1/4 inches, D: 24 inches.
