About the Item

Biedermeier chest of drawers hand-made in Denmark in the early 1800s using pine and decorated with book-matched mahogany veneer. The chest is very simple in lines and looks modern due to the bleaching of the wood, nevertheless it is an antique and built to last several more decades. The chest features four inset drawers with curved drawer fronts on the top and bottom drawers, whereas the middle two are flat. All drawers show beautiful, hand-made dovetail joints, and work well, making this a chest that can be used on a daily basis. The top is covered in book-matched veneer and has straight edges. On the bottom the chest is framed with a flat molding with carved bracket feet, also completely covered with mahogany veneer. Overall this is a gorgeous chest that is highly decorative while being extremely simple in lines. Its small size make it perfect for many different spots and its elegant lines allow it to fit perfectly in a formal setting. At the same time, the light color of the wood and the grey striations of the wood grain give it also a somewhat rustic allowing it to be completely at home in a more relaxed setting as well.
