19th Century Dutch Satinwood Chest, 19th Century

About the Item

A stately Dutch Colonial chest in East Indian Satinwood, with hand turned legs, ebony trim, inlay, and brass accents and highly crafted marquetry in the lower section of the chest and lateral brass handles. The front has a deep, carved scalloped edge. The top of the stand has an ebony molded edge and houses three equal-length drawers with star-encrusted decoration and ebony handles. The legs are in traditional Dutch style with a bulbous, tapered top with a ring and ending in a stilt foot. Marquetry from the Coromandel or Choromândel Coast - West Coast of India - A tradition of working in Dutch pieces since the XVII Century prosperity in the region of the Dutch India Company with inlaid details.
