19th Century English Mahogany Campaign Chest

About the Item

British Military Officers Mahogany 2 part Campaign Chest with brass mounting. These chests were commissioned by officers of the British Army during their various campaigns around the world and were constructed to each individual soldier’s own style. As you can see in this particular example, it’s the classic 2 drawer over 3 construction but the second drawer is larger than the bottom two drawers. This probably was designed to hold larger article of clothing, perhaps their formal uniforms. The chest retains the original warm patina with a fresh coat of shellac and wax.
