About the Item

This is a very high quality 19th century French empire chest of drawers. Made from mahogany and has stunning bronze goddess faces, black fossil marble top and carved original painted feet. All of which show the quality of the piece and also make it hugely decorative. It is very handsome and is in great overall condition with minor blemishes consistent with age and use. The handles are neat with lion masks and all drawers open and close well. The marble is also original and has no major faults. The bronze decoration is very finely done and add a lot to the design of the chest. For me though the feet are one of my favourite details. They are carved timber with totally original worn black paint that gives the whole piece a stylish contrast. Possibly one of my favourite finds of late. Height 87cm Width 100cm Depth 56cm
