19th Century German Neoclassical Revival Painted Commode
About the Item
Generous sized mid 19th century chest of drawers beautifully painted in a soft blue-gray accented with delicate neo-classic design overpainted on the three drawers, sides and top. The base of the chest is straight and finished with molding and rests on tapered feet.
Chest is German Neoclassical Revival with influence of European Neoclassicism and Rhineland restraint.
With probable origination in Germany or Austria, the chest of drawers was handmade to be practical, strong and long lasting with mortise and tenon joints and dovetailed drawers.
