19th Century Military Campaign Chest

About the Item

Military officer’s Campaign chest of five drawers by Ross & Co of Dublin. Crafted in 1860-1880 in solid mahogany with original brass fittings and drawer locks by Hobbs & Co. Gently repolished to preserve the beautiful patina. England / Ireland 1860-1880 Ross and Co. of Dublin were one of the most important makers of campaign furniture in the Victorian era and justifiably, their name still stands out as a leader in their field, today. Campaign -era chests were the travel items of British military officers who bought and commissioned them for their campaigns abroad.
