About the Item
Dutch Chest of Drawers, Hand-Painted in the Gustavian Style, Late 18th Century
An exceptional Dutch chest of drawers featuring an elegant serpentine front with four drawers – two smaller in the upper section and two full-width drawers below. The piece is adorned with finely cast original brass fittings and rests on sculpted bracket feet with refined carvings.
The decorative surface has been entirely hand-painted in the Gustavian style, faithfully recreated based on preserved fragments of the original finish. The subtle palette of soft blues and greys accentuates the chest’s neoclassical lines, while the gentle patina enhances its historic depth and authenticity.
A distinguished example of late 18th-century European craftsmanship, combining elegance, proportion, and timeless appeal.
