Early 19th Century Campaign Chest on Later Stand

About the Item

Early 19th century Campaign chest on later stand. Here we have a piece of early 19th century Furniture that has been adapted for everyday use. Top section of a late Georgian mahogany chest mounted on a mid 20th century mahogany stand of the same taste. Top section with cross banded top and evidence of being fitted with a brass reading stand. 3 drawer fronts, two of which form the pullout secretaire. Interior is fitted out in satinwood complete with pigeon holes and drawers and tan leather writing surface. Further single drawer fitted below. Original handles which are of the finest quality. Original carrying handles to the sides. Standing on 4 legged base with shaped apron to front and sides. Expected minor surface marks and restorations. Age split to leather writing surface across the join. Recently re-polished and ready for everyday use. Fall height: 32 1/4".
