About the Item
A Classic French Bombé two drawer chest with fine traditional form, elaborate bronze mounts and escutcheon and shaped Violet toned marble top. The front imagery depicts a couple holding hands on an architectural stairway with overhanging trees in the near distance. The side imagery depicts two women and a young child with the standing woman playing a tambourine while the seated woman holds the dancing child. All of the inlay is in an elaborate and colorful mix of various woods.
Dimensions: 43.75” wide by 21.215 deep by 35.25” high.
Condition: Please see detail photos. The Chest exhibits various age related wear including two oval areas on the marble, likely from lamp bases, that are shinier from the rest of the top. There are areas of finish loss, particularly to the drawer fronts and to the back edges including some gauges to the veneer, some stable age cracks and some fine scratches to the marble surface. All of the aforementioned is for accuracy as the chest presents in an elegant and authentic French manner.
