French Mid-19th Century Louis XV St. Kingwood, Tulipwood and Ormolu Chest

About the Item

A handsome and most unique French mid 19th century Louis XV st. kingwood, tulipwood and ormolu chest. The chest is raised by impressive tapered cabriole legs with striking richly chased fitted wrap around ormolu paw feet sabots with large acanthus leaves. Each corner displays beautiful foliate ormolu corner mounts in a rich satin and burnished finish. At the center is an elegant and most decorative quarter veneered tulipwood panel with a fine kingwood fillet and framed within a beaded and mottled ormolu band. The right side displays two drawers also decorated with a quarter veneered panel and displaying a central floral ormolu keyhole escutcheon with a charming tied ribbon and berried laurel wreath. The left side displays two faux drawers decorated in the same manner repeating the look of the right side. The top displays wonderfully executed inlaid designs framed within an elegant mottled ormolu band.
