French Mid-19th Century Louis XV St. Marquetry and Ormolu, Three-Drawer Chest

About the Item

An elegant French mid 19th century Louis XV st. marquetry and ormolu, three drawer chest. This bombe shaped chest is raised on cabriole legs ornamented by ormolu sabots and inlaid with exotic wood marquetry amidst rosewood. The drawers have a detailed scrolled floral marquetry inlay with impressive scrolled ormolu handles. The sides, with a unique convex shape, have an elaborate and finely detailed scene of a heron surrounded by foliage, sea grass and a dragonfly above. With all original gilt and hardware throughout.
