George II English Parquetry Chest of Drawers Circa 1730

About the Item

An outstanding two short over three long chest of drawers dating to the reign of George II, the Walnut veneer marquetry on Walnut frame, Oak lined with ‘Running Dog’ Parquetry work around each drawer surround in Holly veneer. This beautiful chest of drawers has been professionally rejuvenated by our French Polisher, we have also had the missing secret ‘wooden spring locks’ replaced on the two upper small drawers, these were a design feature on finely made country house furniture of the period to stop servants from being able to access the top drawers contents and can only be accessed by pulling the top long drawer out. Crossbanded top, Teardrop handles and supported on raised shaped bracket feet, in truly superb condition, wear commensurate to age throughout, each long drawer with original locks, key is not present.
