About the Item

This is a black drawer storage made in Japan. This furniture was made in the Meiji period (1860s-1900s) and is made of cedar wood. Cedar is lightweight yet strong, and was widely used as a highly practical wood that was rooted in the daily life of the time. This piece has a practical structure with four drawers and handle hardware on both sides, and is characterized by its simple design without decoration. The design is lean and functionally oriented, which can be summed up in one word: "Simplicity. The black paint has been rubbed off in places over time, revealing the bark of the wood, which is a sign of careful use over the years and gives it a deeply tasteful appearance. The iron handles and metal fittings remain as they were, and the rust and patina from age give the whole piece a relaxed atmosphere. All drawers open and close smoothly and can be used safely even today. It has been carefully cleaned inside and out, and is recommended not only for everyday storage furniture, but also as gallery or store fixtures. The quiet yet powerful appearance of this piece truly embodies the spirit of "wabi-sabi. Weight: 20 kg _____________________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
