Japanese antique wooden drawer/1868-1920/Wabi-Sabi bedside chest/meiji-taisho

About the Item

This is a very old Japanese wooden drawer. A drawer used in shops to store documents, etc. It is thought to have been used from the Meiji period to the Taisho period (1868-1920). The wood material is paulownia, which is lighter than it looks and weighs 8.7 kg. Paulownia wood is a high-quality wood that has been used for furniture for a long time because it has humidity control properties, is resistant to moisture, and does not have the characteristic of wood. As many years have passed, the atmosphere has changed to a cool, wabi-sabi feel. As for the condition, The drawer opens and closes smoothly and the inside of the drawer is relatively clean. There are some traces of insect damage, so some powder may fall off due to vibration during shipping. Please note. At the bottom of the left side, there is a part where the missing square rod was repaired with a new square rod. Please use it in your living room or bed side chest. This is a highly recommended item with a great atmosphere. [We offer Japanese antique furniture and tools that are different from the Japanese antique furniture and art that have been appreciated abroad. These tools were used in private homes and farmhouses in the past. They have been passed through a long time and have an attractive taste. The reality is that many of these items are now being discarded along with the demolition of houses. We are on a mission to re-evaluate these fascinating old objects and preserve them for future generations. And we have seen tens of thousands of items so far. We have used that experience to list the most fascinating items here. We can do this because of our long experience. We will rediscover the "beauty" produced in the life and culture of the common people, which is different from the Japanese art and culture that is known and scattered around the world, and present it to the world. ]
