Mid-19th Century French Restauration Period Burl Walnut Chest of Drawers
About the Item
This mid-nineteenth century French Restauration period commode or chest of drawers displays exemplary craftsmanship with a facade of book matched burl walnut, solid walnut panel sides, and is finished with a solid wood top. Three lower drawers of dovetail construction are fitted with bronze drawer pulls detailed with floral motifs and bronze escutcheons appointed with acanthus leaves. An upper drawer fits seamlessly into the apron. Lending refinement to its surroundings with its simple lines and reverence to beauty, this chest would make a grand statement in an entryway or dining room, and could also be quietly appreciated in a bedroom, circa 1840.
