Mid 19th Century Swedish Stone Top Black Chest of Three Drawers

About the Item

It is the original stone top that makes this small chest of three drawers a special find while the serpentine front adds intrigue as well. Please enlarge photos of the top to appreciate the matrix of the stone unique to eastern Sweden. Fluted carving along the canted sides and tapered fluted feet, two brass pulls on each drawer. Key works in uppermost lock. The (newer) professionally applied black painted finish is lightly distressed to fit the age and grace of the oak chest. Restored, the drawers function and the case is sturdy - ready to be used and enjoyed as a chest, nightstand or even side table. All scratches, cracks, nicks, etc. are commensurate with age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this lovely small chest of three drawers.
