About the Item

A prominent American furniture designer for over four decades, Edward J Wormley struck a balance between modern trends and historical influences. Speaking to this idea, he is quoted: “Modernism means freedom—freedom to mix, to choose, to change, to embrace the new but to hold fast to what is good.” Made of solid mahogany with a lacquered finish, this pair captures Wormley's balanced ethos, embracing a utilitarian design language executed with elevated material and craft for visual appeal and longevity. Featuring seven graduated, recessed-pull drawers, the understated yet handsome details affirm the confidence in his approach. Wormley also notes: “Furniture is needed for practical reasons, and because it must be there, it may as well be as pleasant as possible to look at, and in a less definable [...] way, comforting to the spirit.” Two available; priced as a set.
