About the Item

‘Colette' model chest of drawers in solid amaranth and veneer of amaranth, of curved form with two drawers in front opening by handles of silver bronze grip. The top is highlighted by a square section listel. Carried by four tapered and curved legs, the front legs with volute. Stamped CP for Chanaux et Pelletier an numbered. One of the most popular models among the creator’s clientele, produced in all the wood varieties offered by Ruhlmann. Album of the referential of the drawings of Ruhlmann, 1034AR and 1951NR. Provenance: François Ducharne; Collection privée à Vienne. Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) was a French furniture designer and interior decorator and one of the most important and influential figures of the Art Deco movement, even considered by some the godfather of French Art Deco. His designs are characterized through elegance and purity of form, made with precious materials and expert craftsmanship, combining luxuriousness with modernity.
